Giveaway: All treats, no tricks – TWSBI Eco in Cerulean Blue

A few weeks ago I decided I needed a little Halloween treat and I sprung for a TWSBI Eco in Glow in the Dark Green. I eagerly anticipated its arrival, trying to decide what ink to put in it (I’m still undecided but I better hurry up since Halloween is Monday).

Joe, the proprietor of The Gentleman Stationer, added a surprise to the package – a TWSBI Eco in Cerulean Blue with a F nib. So today we’re going to host a fun giveaway for Halloween – no tricks, all treats!

Ana and I have added some notebooks and inks to make this a fun little prize package and I’ll be adding some sweets at the end. As pictured, one lucky winner will receive:

TO ENTER: Leave a comment below telling me what your favorite Halloween candy is! (Play along and type in something. It makes reading through entries more interesting for me, okay?) One entry per person.

If you have never entered a giveaway or commented on the site before, your comment must be manually approved by our highly-trained staff of monkeys before it will appear on the site. Our monkeys are underpaid and under-caffeinated so don’t stress if your comment does not appear right away. Give the monkeys some time.

FINE PRINT: All entries must be submitted by midnight CST on Sunday, October 30th. All entries must be submitted at wellappointeddesk.com, not Twitter, Tumblr or Facebook, okay? Winner will be announced on Monday, October 31st – Halloween baby! One winner will be selected by random number generator from entries that played by the rules. Please include your actual email address in the comment form so that I can contact you if you win. I will not save email addresses or sell them to anyone — pinky swear. If winner does not respond within 5 days, I will draw a new giveaway winner. Shipping via USPS first class is covered. Additional shipping options or insurance will have to be paid by the winner. We are generous but we’re not made of money. US and APO/AFO only, sorry.

DISCLAIMER: Some of the items in this post were generously provided by The Gentleman Stationer for the purposes of this giveaway.

  1. Peanut butter cup! (and almond joys as a close second)… I both discovered these candies emigrating to the US 24 years ago… also discovered Halloween at that point (it hadn’t made it to other countries like it does now), and the holiday is my daughter’s favorite.. Unfortunately (and fortunately :)) she is now in college, so no more family Halloween. It’s still her absolute favorite… As for me, orange and black have always been my favorite colors….
thanks for your blog, I really appreciate the work, and the sharing (not buttering you up, just ceasing the occasion :))
    Béatrice

  2. My favourite Haloween sweet would have to be a monster size bag of Haribo Tangfastic. They are spooktacular!

  3. My favorite Halloween candy when I was a kid was popcorn balls. Someone in our little town in Texas so long ago would spend the day making them. She would put one in each bag.
    Should an act of generosity.

  4. My favorite candy of all time – well, ALL of them! But seriously, I have a weakness for Bullseye’s!! All that soft chewy caramel with the white cream center. Irresistible!! LOL Thanks for the chance to win!

  5. The only candy that should be required to be given away at Halloween is Reese’s peanut butter cups. And not those teeny-tiney ones either…full size or go home!!

  6. Ooooh. Halloween candy: not being a chocolate lover, I go for the Skittles. On the other hand, if I were to go for chocolate, it would be either dark chocolate, or the super smooth Dove chocolate.

  7. Just thought you’d want to know; the email field on the web-based comment form that you want us to fill in our email so you can notify the giveaway winner doesn’t appear when you use the WordPress app (on my iPhone at least) to read to WordPress blogs and comment/reply. You just get a text field. I left a comment but couldn’t leave my email. It’s below. (I said my favorite candy was Reese’s Cups and that they were already in Halloween colors)

  8. When I was a kid, my favorites were Almond Joy and that one with the rice puffs in chocolate. Now I’m thrilled when I get my hands on a Canadian Mint Aero Thanks for the sweet giveaway!

  9. I’m a Reece’s peanut butter cups girl all the way!
Just so happens that TWSBIs are my favorite pens.
Please let us know what ink you decided on for your glow-in-the-dark pen, 🙂

  10. What a fun package!! My favorite Halloween candy is Twizzlers! Or Skittles or Starbursts. Mmmm…must get snack….

  11. My favorite is 3 Musketeers. I never buy them any other time of the year, but I absolutely love them! They’re my special Halloween treat (and my kids don’t like them so they always give me all of theirs from their trick-or-treating candy!)

  12. Truly, truly Halloween candy? Candy corn, specifically Brach’s. Seasonal, don’t really see it the rest of the year, can have a few handfuls and then I’m done until next year!

    1. My favorite Halloween candy are the jelly pumpkins by Begins – only available during Halloween time. Like sugar-coated jelly gum drops in the shape of a pumpkin. A close second are the mini candy bars, especially the Baby Ruth and Butterfingers…just great treats when one wants a little something sweet. Thanks for giving away the Eco, post card, notebooks and ink. What a wonderful treat!

  13. My favorite halloween candy is full sized Hershey milk chocolate plain or with almonds! I hope your monkeys pick me! Thanks.

  14. My favorite Halloween candy was and remains Snickers bars, followed closely by anything else with real chocolate, and not including candy corn, which I would trade to my older brother for Tootsie Rolls and citrus flavored hard candy. I do enjoy your blog and I particularly like it’s title. My desk is a mess of wonderful things I can never lay my hands on. Would definitely appreciate more clutter to add to the mix.

  15. I try to be a good boy and avoid Halloween candy, but my doctor tells me that dark chocolate has medicinal benefits.

  16. My favorite candy is the mini snickers bar, a perfect combination of peanuts, chocolate, and the right amount of gooey.

  17. Great giveaway and Happy Halloween. As an adult buying bags of candies, “allegedly” to give to young trick or treaters, my favorite is Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. But, as a child my favorite candies to receive were Smarties Candy Rolls.

  18. It’s a tie between Reese’s peanut butter cups and candy corn. I only buy and eat the candy corn when it’s brand new on the store shelf (long before Halloween) so it’s nice and fresh. And if I have any candy corn left I melt it 50-50 with creamy peanut butter to make the filling for copycat Butterfingers candy bars!

  19. Halloween sized bags of gummis are always woefully small… So best candy to find in my sack at the end of the eve would have to be the xl sized bags of Albanese Gummi Bears, although finding a street handing those out would be unlikely!

  20. The first American candy I ever ate was an Almond Joy. I was four, living in Russia. The American adults put together a traditional Halloween trick-or-treat experience for us kids. It has a special nostalgic value for me 🙂

  21. My go-to is the trick-or-treat size butterfingers. Yum. I bet that butterfinger shade of orange wouldn’t make a bad ink color!

  22. Halloween Pumpkin shaped Reese’s Peanut Butter (not) Cups. I love the holiday shapes so much I can’t eat a regular Reese’s anymore.

  23. I am partial to the more old school Bit O’ Honey, or even a Chick-O-Stick. But I was introduced to candy corn and peanuts one Halloween season and I have to say that is my favorite.

  24. Candy Corn. It’s not Halloween without it.
As for your green pen, I think it needs some purple ink. That would make it nice and witchy.

  25. Candy Corn is the best, nothing nut SUGAR!

And I think your pen needs green ink to complete the spooky theme.

  26. My throwback to childhood is Smarties in those little rolls and Lik-M-Aid with the edible stick and flavour packets – 100% sugar decadence 🙂

  27. Favorite candy?? I love all candy but candy corn, bit o’honey, and mary janes all bring back great Halloween memories.

  28. Maaan that’s hard. I like Dots a lot which is awesome because no one else likes em. More for me! Tho I won’t say no to some chocolate

  29. For Halloween specifically, Three Musketeers. Like, they’re good all the time, but there’s something distinctly Halloween-y about breaking through that chocolate outer into the fluffy filling. It also works especially well in fun size bars for Halloween candy. A Snickers is a Snickers, but a fun size Three Musketeers is something unique.

Close second would be Milky Way/Milky Way Dark for all the same reasons.

  30. I am fond of Circus Peanuts. Weirdly orange, sorta shaped like a mutant peanut, but tastes like banana. Yup, that’s my favorite. Thanks for asking!

PS pronounce my handle as Mike; the 3 is silent.

  31. Thank you so much for this wonderful giveaway! My favorite candy is Brach’s Candy Corn – only that brand. When our granddaughter was 2 months old, I knitted her costume: snuggly sack of yellow and orange for body, and a white hat. And she slept through all the trick or treating toasty-warm in our living room.

  32. Candy corn! I only eat it once a year at Halloween. Don’t really want it any other time of the year, but at Halloween it is my favorite!

  33. How about a weird candy that I may have imagined. Did anyone else ever have those weird flying saucer shaped candies made from what seemed like two foam wafers put together and filled with colored nonpareils?

  34. I love a Reese’s peanut butter cup or a Reese’s peanut pumpkin. The best!

And yes KA, I do remember those weird flying saucers with colored nonpareils. A staple penny candy from my childhood.

Anybody who loves candy should read Candy Freak. Best book about candy!

  35. as far as trick or treating candy went, for me the top two were snickers and reese’s, with the tiny hershey’s in a close follow.

  36. My favorite Halloween candy is the small Butterfinger bars. When I was a kid, my least favorite were the peanut-butter flavored salt water taffy wrapped in orange of black waxed paper. I always left those for last.

  37. No question what my favorite candy is (for Halloween or any other time of year!!): York Peppermint Patties!!!!!!
(Although the new all peanut butter Ultimate PB Lovers Reese’s Cups are vying for the top spot!)

  38. My favorite is M&Ms or Almond Joy, but, really, I’ll eat it all! Except maybe Reeses Pieces. Not a big fan of peanut butter in anything other than a PB&J. But I’d eat the Reeses if desperate for a chocolate fix!

  39. there is only one candy ever… CHOCOLATE! it goes with anything… anytime… anywhere…anyhoo 🙂

  40. I don’t know if I can pick only one – my favorites being Almond Joy (full size of course!) or a Snicker’s bar.
But, if I was forced to choose which one it would have to be the Almond Joy. After all, who can resist the combination of almonds, coconut, and chocolate? It hits all of my food groups!

  41. No doubt about it SNICKERS! Just think, you get roasted peanuts, nougat, caramel, and milk chocolate all for just 250 calories and 12 fat grams. What more could you ask? And, if that were not enough, it taste good.

  42. I don’t see them much these days but I always loved sugar babies. I’m a sucker for chocolate covered caramel.

  43. For me, it is the much maligned candy corn, or the pumpkins that are essentially the same. It reminds me of grade school Halloween, sitting at my desk, dressed as something else. When I have one now (every few years), it makes me smile!

  44. When I was little, I loved the Nestlé 100 Grand bars (which were “$100,000 Bars” at the time). Least favorite were Mary Janes, Bit O’ Honeys, and Clark Bars. Feh!

  45. Believe it or not, I am one who does love candy corn! And black licorice! What a blessing it would be to win this giveaway! Thank you!

  46. OK…Nestle’s Crunch Bars, the small size – since if I eat four of them it’s no big deal, but eating four of the full sized ones is a little excessive!

  47. Favorite Halloween candy is the Crunch bar or a Kit Kat. It was so awesome to get name brand candy when I was young! Happy Halloween!

  48. Laffy taffy, omg, I am such an addict. Last Halloween I bought a bag to “give away” I didn’t even share it with my kids! Banana in all its fake banana glory is my favorite.

  49. My favorite candy is Starburst Fruit Chews! Thanks for a wonderful and generous giveaway, and most especially to The Gentleman Stationer. Thank you Staff Monkeys for your time!

  50. My fave Halloween treat has always been Snickers fun size. I would trade my brother and sister for them. When I was pregnant I craved Snickers fun size. To this day I only give out Snickers fun size. Funny but not only was I married on Halloween, but my parents were too! Spooktacular!

  51. My favorite Halloween candy, hmm. This is gonna be hard since I have a great sweet tooth, but I think it is smarties.(ps, I’m very fickle, so don’t hold me to this!)

  52. My favorite Halloween candy are Tootsie Rolls, especially those big chunky ones. The fruity ones were always an exciting treat too!

  53. My favorites are the flavored tootsie rolls – the pink or green ones, specifically. I always want to get a bag to hand out but my spouse points out (correctly, I think) that I am literally the only person who actually enjoys those.

  54. Cerulean! My favorite childhood crayon color.

Ahem. I’m not picky when it comes to Halloween candy, but my eyes light up whenever I spot a Butterfinger in the big bowl of candy.

  55. My favorite candy is anything chocolate. I have no use for any other kind of candy!
If I won the prize I’d gift it to my daughter in law, I’ve penabled her a little with easy to use pens that take cartridges but this would be a step in a new direction.

  56. Twix are my favorite! Tangentially related, my cousin grew up on a farm and demanded one year to go trick or treating in town instead of driving around to the few rural neighbors. All those houses so close together! She was sure to make out like a bandit. What she didn’t realize is that the town folks only gave out little fun size candy one piece at a time. Her farm neighbors gave out full size candy bars, homemade taffy, popcorn balls…She never made the town trick or treating mistake again!

  57. I’m definitely a Chocolate fan. Doesn’t really matter what type, though dark is preferred. (I like the 95%, but you’re not getting that for Halloween 🙂 )

  58. Well, I guess I will go for the classic mini Snickers bar as a Halloween treat fave, but someone just gave me a couple of the Dove squares with the Halloween wrapping and they were so tasty–smooth chocolate and delicious. I wonder if any will be left for sale tomorrow? Happy Halloween, Desk friends!
