Eye Candy: Vanness Exclusive Franklin-Christoph Pocket 45

Vanness Pens was lucky enough to get a custom edition of the beloved Franklin-Christoph Pocket 45 ($105)  in a translucent turquoise blue and I was lucky enough to get one from the first batch.

Vanness finally received their shipment on the second batch and there’s already a waiting list for a third shipment. We Franklin-Christoph collectors sure our rabid about these little pocket treasures.

They originally shipped with stock steel nibs but I swapped out the nib with an 18K Masuyama Needlepoint nib that I had in another P45 to make mine extra special.

What took me so long to post about this jewel was finding just the right ink for it. There was much debate about it and testing before I came to a decision. What ink do you think I finally decided to got with? What would you fill yours with?

  1. I’m going to go with the Vert Reseda in mine (I got in on today’s second batch! Yippee!) — or Diamine Soft Mint! Eye-droppered of course!

  2. I was lucky enough to get in on the second batch! I have samples of Robert Oster Peppermint and Monteverde California Teal coming too. I have been waiting so long to try both- an FC 45 and those inks!

    1. Congratulations! Laura and I ordered samples of Peppermint and California Teal so we’ll definitely try those as well.

  3. I’m guessing you went with the Vert Reseda. I was lucky enough to get one this go ’round & have no idea what ink I’ll use. That will be another fun part when it comes in the mail. Happy writing!

      1. Kaweco Paradise Blue is one of my favorites. I was using it recently in my TWBSI Eco Turquoise until I emptied it. Now it is filled with Diamine Marine.

  4. I was lucky enough to get one the first time around, too. I’m not much of a pocket pen fan, but I just adore this pen. First inked it up with Robert Oster Deep Sea (because the color of the pen is so close to the turquoise/green seaglass I have), and now it’s filled with Robert Oster Tranquility.
