Ink Review: Montblanc William Shakespeare Velvet Red

Author AnaPosted on July 22, 2017July 21, 20174 Comments

This is the last of the Montblanc limited edition inks for the week. I picked up William Shakespeare Velvet Red ($19 for 35ml) at Pen Place in Crown Center. It’s positively lethal to have access to fountain pens and ink and paper within walking distance of my office! I haven’t quite figured out the logic behind…

Ink Review: Montblanc Lucky Orange

Author AnaPosted on July 18, 2017August 14, 20176 Comments

I have been using Montblanc Lucky Orange in my Franklin Christoph Pocket 45 since the beginning of April. Since it’s an eyedropper filler with a fine italic nib, it could possibly take me a whole year to use up all the ink but I will likely enjoy using it the whole time. I haven’t been…

Ink Review: KWZ Chicago Blue

Author AnaPosted on May 22, 2017May 27, 20175 Comments

KWZ Chicago Blue (60ml, $15)  is an ink color exclusively created for the Chicago Pen Show 2017 but luckily for you, it did not sell out completely. There are still a few bottles left for sale through Vanness Pens. So, even if you weren’t able to make it to the show, you can still feel…

Ink Review: Montblanc UNICEF Turquoise

Author AnaPosted on May 23, 2017July 7, 20177 Comments

There are a couple of brands of ink recently that I’ve developed a terrible case of FOMO about and a oddly, Montblanc is one of them. Generally speaking, I am not a big Montblanc pen fan in general because they are too expensive and fussy for me in regards to modern pens and the well for…

Ink Review: Papier Plume Sazerac

Author AnaPosted on December 5, 2016December 5, 20163 Comments

After recording the Gift Guide episode of the Pen Addict podcast, I fell victim to our own enabling and bought some of the Papier Plume Sazerac ink. See? We are even dangerous to each other! Sazerac is part of their New Orleans themed ink collection and being a cocktail connoisseur, I couldn’t resist trying a bottle.…

Ink Review: Pelikan Edelstein Smoky Quartz

Author AnaPosted on April 7, 2017April 24, 2018268 Comments

Every year for the last… maybe eight SIX years now(?) Pelikan has tried to wow us with a new jewel-themed Color of the Year ink color. While Pantone is telling us this year is the year of “Greenery,” Pelikan is trying to convince us its a browner sort of year. Pelikan chose Smoky Quartz ($28 for a…

Were you one of the cool kids in elementary school or middle school or even high school who had access to markers that could change color? These markers came with several saturated colors and a marker with no color. But if you wrote with the colorful markers and then used the marker with no color on top of them, the color would change!...
I wandered into my local art supply store recently to get a couple very specific pencils. But of course I had to browse. I wandered down the watercolor aisle muttering to myself, "I do not need anymore watercolor palettes." So of course, I bought a new palette. But it's different!!!! It's the Derwent Inktense Paint Palette Set ($25). The set includes 12 small pans of color, a sponge along one edge and a portable waterbrush....
What are the odds that the random number generator would pick 3 winners all requesting different sized Endless Pen Companion cases on the first try?!?!? Today, the odds were 66%. So I had to toss a coin for who got the 5-pen and the 3-pen case. So without further ado, drum roll for our winners: Jen and Theresa, I had to toss a coin as to who would get the 3 and 5-pen sized....
