Kaweco Student Pen Review

Author AnaPosted on September 13, 2012May 27, 201712 Comments

I made a decision in the great debate between the Kaweco Student and the Kaweco Allrounder and I chose the Student model. The Student is $50 cheaper than the Allrounder and I wasn’t sure if I was going to like a full-sized Kaweco. My hands are very small and the lightweight quality and size of…

Ohto Tasche Fountain Pen Review

Author AnaPosted on August 8, 2012May 27, 20171 Comment

The fine folks at JetPens recently sent me the Ohto Japan Tasche FF-10T compact fountain pen to review. I went over to their review page and noticed several comments that suggested that the pen did not perform well so I was a bit concerned. I am truly spoiled by the high-quality performance and low price…

TWSBI Diamond 540 EF Review

Author AnaPosted on June 26, 2012May 27, 20172 Comments

First I have to start off by telling a little story of how the TWSBI Diamond 540 came into my life. I was having a particularly crappy week at work and knew my birthday was coming up so I thought I’d cheer myself up with a new fountain pen so I ordered a TWSBI 540…

Pilot Prera Review

Author AnaPosted on June 7, 2012May 27, 201710 Comments

The Pilot Prera is a bit of a budget fountain pen celebrity and I finally broke down and bought one. Its a Japanese steel nib pen with a cartridge filling system though there’s a cartridge converter available for it as well. Don’t tease, I had to have the lime green one. The Japanese nib sizes…

Kaweco Guilloch 1930 EF Fountain Pen

Author AnaPosted on March 23, 2012May 27, 20172 Comments

With my love for all things vintage, I couldn’t resist purchasing the Kaweco Guilloch 1930. Guilloch is term used to describe the technique of emboss that creates the fine lines on the cap and barrel that look so distinctly Art Deco. Other than the decorative case, the Kaweco Guilloch 1930 is the same internally as…

Lamy Studio Brushed Stainless Steel with 1.1mm nib

Author AnaPosted on March 6, 2012May 27, 20178 Comments

I have been wanting to try a Lamy pen without the plastic grip guides for “proper holding” for sometime. All of the low-end Lamys (Safari, Al-Star, Joy, Vista and ABC) feature this grip which helps a lot of people but as a left-hander who overwrites, it is a pain to use. So, I decided to…

Modern Budget Fountain Pens

Author AnaPosted on February 20, 2012May 27, 2017Leave a comment

Over the past couple of years, I’ve collected a small collection of modern, budget fountain pens. When I say budget, I mean under $50 and in most cases even under $25. Right now, this collection includes a Lamy Al-Star (a step up from the Lamy Safari with an aluminum rather than plastic body) ($45), Pilot…

Were you one of the cool kids in elementary school or middle school or even high school who had access to markers that could change color? These markers came with several saturated colors and a marker with no color. But if you wrote with the colorful markers and then used the marker with no color on top of them, the color would change!...
I wandered into my local art supply store recently to get a couple very specific pencils. But of course I had to browse. I wandered down the watercolor aisle muttering to myself, "I do not need anymore watercolor palettes." So of course, I bought a new palette. But it's different!!!! It's the Derwent Inktense Paint Palette Set ($25). The set includes 12 small pans of color, a sponge along one edge and a portable waterbrush....
What are the odds that the random number generator would pick 3 winners all requesting different sized Endless Pen Companion cases on the first try?!?!? Today, the odds were 66%. So I had to toss a coin for who got the 5-pen and the 3-pen case. So without further ado, drum roll for our winners: Jen and Theresa, I had to toss a coin as to who would get the 3 and 5-pen sized....
